TIME’ın oluşturduğu ‘Best Inventions of 2008′de yer alan listede, internet tabanlı buluşların yoğun bir şekilde yer alması dikkat çekti. ABD’de oldukça popüler olan video sitesi Hulu.com 2008′in en iyi dördüncü icadı olarak yer alırken, Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, Joss Whedon web müzikali, Facebook benzeri bir site olan ve casuslar için Facebook olarak bilinen A-Space de listedeki diğer web tabanlı buluşlar olarak dikkat çekti.

Google da ‘hareketli veri merkezi olarak listede 47 numaraya yerleşmeyi başaran bir diğer önemli isim olarak dikkat çekiyor.

Listenin 20. sırasında da çok ilginç bir isim var: EA’in piyasaya sürdüğü oyunu Spore, Time tarafından 2008′in en iyi 20. icadı olarak onurlandırıldı.

Flash bellek tabanlı Solid State Disk’lerde kapasite arttırımı devam ediyor: Şimdi de 128 GB

A-DATA firmasından sonra Mtron firması da 128 GB’lık bir Flash disk (SSD) tanıttı.

Üretici verilerine göre 1.8 inçlik sürücü saniyede 120 MB ile okuyup, 100 MB ile yazabiliyor. Yeni SSD başlıca laptoplar ve UMPC’lerde kullanılan SSD’lerin yerine geçecek.

Mtron 128 GB SSD’yi nisan ayından itibaren üretmek istiyor. Satış fiyatları henüz belli değil.

Lacie yine yapacağını yapmış önceden  195 ytllik 500 gb Lacie hardiskini tanıtmıştım. Ucuz olduğundan kalitesiz olduğunu düşünen arkadaşlar varsa hemen söyleyeyim taşınabilir disklerin içinde segagate hardisk var merak edip açan bir arkadaşım söylemişti. Şimdide yeni ürününü sizlere tanıtmak istiyorum. 1,3 inclik bu hardisk 60 gb hafızaya sahip. Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows gibi işletim sistemleri ile çalışan lacie intros drivers harddisk full back up alma ve 128 bit şifreleme sistemine sahip.

Apple released their newly redesigned iPod Nano back in September, and sales for this MP3 player were a bit slow at first but have begun to turn around during the holiday season. The Apple iPod Nano is now one of the top selling tech gadgets this holiday season.

Back in September, some Apple stores reported initial sales of only 200-500 of the new iPod Nanos of their initial stock of 1800-2500 units (source: AppleInsider). Apple executives were puzzled about the slow sales of the Nano which has gotten favorable reviews from just all of the technology reviewers.

Sales have greatly increased for the Nano during the holiday season, which Apple executives attribute to a recent strong interest in Apple products by consumers, such as the iMac and Mac OS X Leopard, and also because of Apple’s strong partnerships with retailers like Best Buy (source: AppleInsider). Supply for the Apple iPod Nano are now running low, as this third generation MP3 player becomes more and more popular amongst consumers.

The look of the third generation ipodNano has gotten an extreme makeover. The new Nano still has the same click-wheel that has been so popular with ipods, but it’s a quarter of an inch smaller than the previous Nano’s click-wheel. This is probably because of the smaller body of the third generation Nano compared with its predecessor’s which was much taller and skinnier.

The dimensions of the newest Nano are 2.75 by 2 by 0.25 inches, and it’s as light as a feather. I like the new design of the Nano, and I think it’s now a bit more portable than before. The body itself is made of an anodized aluminum material for the faceplate, just as previous models have had.

The best new feature of the Apple iPod Nano has got to be its support for videos. It will play videos up to a maximum of 640 by 480 resolution at speeds of up to 30 frames per second (DVD speeds). Videos look exceptionally well on the Nano’s 2 inch screen, although watching full-length movies will leave you with a bad case of eye-strain trying to watch on such a small display. I would stick to video clips. Videos can be purchased at iTunes or from almost any other source, but you may need to use some video-conversion software to convert the video to a supported format.

Performance and Sound Quality of the iPod Nano

The sound quality of the iPod Nano is above average, but it’s not great. The lack of a customizable equalizer is remedied by the Nano’s inclusion of over 20 preset equalizer settings. For the most part, sound quality is on par with previous Nano models. Most people should be happy with their Nano when it comes to sound quality.

The battery life of the third generation Nano is exceptional. Cnet tests showed 29 hours of audio playback and 6.7 hours of video playback. These test numbers are higher than Apple’s ratings which are 24 hours for audio and 5 hours for video.

Is the Nano Worth the Money?

In one word “yes”. This MP3 player is not perfect, but with the addition of video support it’s definitely one of the top 5 flash players on the market right now. The third generation iPod Nano is available in a variety of colors and either a 4GB or 8GB memory capacity. If you plan on watching lots of video, I definitely recommend getting the 8GB rather than the 4 GB model. These new iPods are reasonably priced at about $149 (4GB) and $199 (8GB) .

The future of LED lighting has grown into something pretty sweet, as New York designer Nick Foley can tell you. If you want to illuminate dark spaces, or bring a touch of the outside indoors, his Pear Light is sure to brighten up any interior with its handcrafted design and organic countenance.

Custom made from hand-forged metal, this hollow steel tree is home to three pear-shaped urethane lights which dangle from its boughs, held in place via rare earth magnets. Each pear light comes bearing 10 ultrabright white LEDs, and once “picked” from its branch will stay charged for up to an hour. So that means you can take your little pear light on a journey deep into the night, and it will safely guide your travels for about an hour. Then you’re out of luck.

Once the glow softens and fades you can just hang it back on its bough (that is, if you make it back from your nocturnal adventures), where it will recharge via its autonomous charging circuit and meanwhile serve as part of an ambient floor lamp.

No information has been released on whether the Pear Light will go into production but, as I’m a fan of pears, I’d personally like a veritable fruit-bearing forest of these LEDs growing in my living room with some grapes and apples, too!

Bu bardak çok ilgimi çekti çünkü nasıl yapmışlar bilmiyorum ama su doldurdukça bardağın şekli değişiyor. Resimdede görüldüğü gibi su koydukça deniz seviyeside yükseliyor. I recently stumbled upon a fantastic baby merchandise website that features the absurd (see below for my article on scary mom hands) to the practical, and now I think that their latest find is something sure to be “hanging” around on the nev mam market for quite some time.

Okay, enough with the shameless puns…and on to how you can learn to hang your child from a wall! Intrigued? So was I when I checked out the Babykeeper Basic, sold online at a myriad of locations. Designed for kiddos 6-18 months old, the Babykeeper works like a backpack, only instead of schoolbooks and sandwiches, you stuff your infant inside of it instead. You can carry them around, strap them into a grocery cart, or as previously mentioned – suspend them from a wall.

Why in the world would a mother want to do this? Have you ever tried to use the restroom yourself when you are responsible for the care of an infant? Especially at this age range, where grabbing, crawling, and licking the nasty public restroom countertops are among their favorite activity, go ahead and try it and let me know how it goes. That is exactly why I think the Babykeeper Basic is ingenius, albeit a little barbaric and creepy looking.

Made out of a nylon material that is easy to clean, you can fold this up and stow it in your diaper bag when you aren’t using it, and then pull it out to keep your tiniest partner in crime safe and sound while you take care of business.
